Crafting the Perfect Corporate Travel Experience

            Photo: Zocha Group

            The Corporate Travel Experience

From Los Angeles to Tokyo, the travel industry thrives in part because of the demand for mobility from businesses all over the world. Corporate travel is an important aspect of many companies as they aim to expand their scope to work with domestic and foreign partners. Having the perfect environment to conduct business is an essential part of creating a professional portrayal of your company when you’re away from the office.

Photo: Zocha Group – Crafting the Perfect Corporate Travel Experience

            Hotel Accommodations

The hotel you choose during a business trip can be the difference between having a productive work experience or a stressful stay. Some hotels are fit for families and have amenities targeted at parents and children. Others work well for vacationers looking to party. These types of environments can often become distracting when your prime focus is to conduct business. Choosing a hotel that isn’t in the center of tourist areas or near popular attractions can sometimes be the best way to ensure the atmosphere is right for your trip. Quiet areas like lounge spaces and business centers are also an essential in contributing to your productivity. Seeking out these types of amenities beforehand can help you make the right choice in narrowing down the best place to stay.

Photo: Zocha Gtoup – Crafting the Perfect Corporate Travel Experience

            Meeting Spaces

When leaving your city for business, you won’t have a private office space to be able to meet with clients or partners. Where you choose to conduct meetings can make all the difference in properly representing your company. Business meals can work well in certain situations—a casual lunch or corner dinner table at a restaurant can be great for smaller meetings that do not require privacy. However for larger groups or for discussing confidential matters, a hotel conference room can function as a great space to congregate. Technology like projection screens and wi-fi are readily available, and hotel staff members are there to help with making arrangements. Professionalism is key in creating an environment where your meeting can run without external factors to disrupt the workflow.

            Entertainment

Whether you’re traveling with your own team, or meeting with executives, clients or partners, there are many situations where you may need to provide entertainment for your group. It can be difficult to choose the proper place to bring your guests in a city where you’re unfamiliar with the best options. Sports games can often be an impressive choice and private suites can provide a space for conducting casual business. Private rooms at restaurants can also be viable options to enjoy a meal while mingling with your team. Impressing your guest can involve a great deal of planning, but when the right accommodations are made, the end result can lead to developing a valuable business relationship that ultimately helps your company.

A ceiling filled with disco balls and a light up dancefloor make this destination worth the journey.

              Good Housekeeping – Highland Park

              The Varnish – Downtown LA

One of the original bars kicking off the speakeasy resurgence, the Varnish is located at the back of Downtown LA’s lauded Cole’s French Dip restaurant. The cocktails served behind this fake storefront are truly on another level. The ingredients are among the freshest and most interesting you can find in LA, with house-made syrups, fresh squeezed juices, freshly puréed juices and tall pours of rare liquors that pair perfectly with a menu inspired by early 20th century cuisine.

              Alley Lounge – Culver City

Culver City’s Alley Lounge is an inviting bar tucked away behind Fin restaurant, and can be found beyond what looks to be a kitchen service door at the end of an unassuming alley. Delicious drinks and talented bartenders keep guests entertained along with a menu of late-night eats.

              Black Rabbit Rose – Hollywood

The tasty cocktails and Victorian splendor are just a side attraction to the real star of the show: Magic. Sunset & Vinyl – Hollywood

With no sign or indication that it exists, much of Sunset & Vinyl’s popularity came from good old fashioned word-of-mouth, just like its speakeasy predecessors. Visit Sunset and Vine’s 800 Degrees Pizza location and head up the stairs in the back of the restaurant to find this vintage, vinyl-inspired space perfect for listening to music with a flavorful cocktail.

              La Descarga – East Hollywood

              Bar Jackalope – Downtown LA

              Lock & Key – Koreatown

There are dozens of doors at this trendy Koreatown speakeasy, but if you can find the one that lets you inside you’ll be greeted with fresh, fruity cocktails and unconventional mixology tricks. The outdoor patio has all the privacy of a speakeasy, but the live bands and DJ sets might alert the neighborhood to your presence.

              R Bar – Koreatown

This Koreatown dive bar channels a true prohibition style with a rotating password that guests must track down each night. Inside you’ll find a pirate-themed space with karaoke and bar food for a laid back night out.

Blind Barber – Highland Park & Culver City

Don’t be fooled by the fully-operational barbershop storefront, Blind Barber keeps the “party in the back” when you head through a door in the shop to find its lively lounge space. Similar to its NYC, Chicago and Miami locations, the sleek, hidden bars in Culver City and Highland Park offer up great cocktails and the brand’s signature grilled cheese sandwiches.

West Hollywood Extends Last Call Until 4am

Is West Hollywood Extending the Last Call Until 4am?

West Hollywood remains a bustling hotspot with a prominent nightlife scene. The hotels are glamorous, the clubs are extravagant, and there’s seemingly always something to do. WeHo is a neighborhood that’s always on the move, and there’s some good news for nightlife junkies. On Monday, June 27th, The West Hollywood city council voted to extend the city’s last call time to 4am, which would allow bars, clubs and restaurants to keep the party going, long into the night.

City Councilmember John Erickson says the biggest issue is making sure people can get home safely. “As a young person and young elected official, I see my friends out there way past 2 a.m., but also we have public safety concerns. We want to make sure people are getting home safely. And when people are leaving our bars and nightlife, they’re going into other cities so what do other cities think?”

There’s a compelling case to be made that not only is there a ton of money to be made for the neighborhood in alcohol sales, but bars being open late isn’t even a radical idea. Many major American cities have already pushed the window for late-night excitement, including New York, Chicago, Miami, and Las Vegas

                Pending State Approval

The pilot program would still need to be approved by the state, but West Hollywood is not alone in their fight for epic nights. Several other California cities were on the docket, including San Francisco, Oakland, Fresno, Coachella, Cathedral City, and Palm Springs. City officials could choose to extend alcohol sales in certain areas, on given days of the week, or even just for special events, like San Francisco’s Outside Lands and of course, the ever-popular Coachella.

Should West Hollywood elect to extend the last call, it is sure to be an exciting time to be in Los Angeles.
