      Coastal Cities in Italy

When traveling to Italy, many people feel Milan, Venice, or Pompeii are some of the best options. Not everyone considers the abundance of picture-perfect coastal towns and cities that Italy has to offer. The colorful and unique architecture, unrivaled views of the ocean, and the cliff-covered landscape that surrounds the towns are enough to spark romance inside of your heart. Whether you’re looking to do some shopping, A-list dining, or outdoor activities, you can find it all and more within some of the finest coastal cities in Italy.

      Amalfi

Located at the mouth of a deep ravine and the foot of Monte Cerreto, Amalfi is a small but world-renowned city known for sun-filled piazzas, historic architecture, and luxury vacations. If you’re thinking about booking a trip to Amalfi, consider staying at the Santa Caterina Hotel, set in a hilltop villa on the Tyrrhenian Sea. The upscale hotel presents beautiful views of the water as well as two delicious restaurants and no shortage of amenities for guests.

      Manarola

As a part of the Cinque Terre National Park, Manarola is known for being the ‘most colorful’ city in the world. The buildings resemble an artist’s palette, tightly placed together along a cliff overlooking the ocean. Manarola is one of five towns that make up the Cinque Terre National Park, and every year visitors flock to the park to hike and take in everything Manarola has to offer. On your next trip to Manarola, consider staying at La Torretta Lodge, a unique luxury hotel that boasts a modernized medieval tower and contemporary art-filled rooms that offer breathtaking views over the water.

      Positano

You will never find a shortage of photo opportunities when visiting Italy’s most picturesque city with quaint homes, rustic hotels, and the most luxurious resorts on the Amalfi coast including the Il San Pietro di Positano. Positano’s location gives visitors the opportunity to travel by boat to Capri, Ischia and the Grotta dello Smeraldo. Enjoy laying out on the beach, hiking the foothills that lie behind the coastal paradise, or feasting on authentic Mediterranean cuisine at restaurants like Ristorante Il Capitano that provide gorgeous views of the sea.

      Portofino

Portofino has become popular with US travelers in recent decades due to its opulence and picturesque scenery. The distinctive half-moon harbor now houses superyachts year-round, and new resorts like Belmond Hotel Splendido and Splendid Mare have sprung up ensuring that guests receive the best treatment possible. The Belmond is all about elegance and refinement, not overtaking the natural charm of the Riviera, but adding to it.

      Sorrento

Where the mountains meet the sea and where deep valleys transition into beautiful citrus plantations is where you’ll find the enchanting Italian city of Sorrento. Located in the province of Naples, Sorrento is set on a truly unbelievable landscape. Enjoy sipping fine wines in the Piazza Tasso square, or check out the rolling countryside that leads into the Amalfi coast. After a day of exploring, retire to your room at the Grand Hotel Excelsior Vittoria, a 19th-century grand dame located on a cliff right above the port.

      Polignano a Mare

The historic old town of Polignano a Mare is thought to be one of the most charming as well as the most important towns in the south of Italy. The city is perched upon limestone cliffs overlooking the rich blue Adriatic Sea, creating a perfect location for cliff diving. Consider staying at the Borgobianco Resort & Spa Mgallery by Sofitel, renowned for its friendly service and ultra relaxing atmosphere.

      Atrani

Atrani has long been the escape for the most powerful families of Amalfi. The city still maintains a small fishing village feel even after incorporating a variety of high-end conveniences and places to stay. The town has traditionally designed homes climbing up cliffsides to offer stunning views over the water, and there is a maze of tightly packed alleys and colorful gardens that run throughout. Here, the Belmond Hotel Caruso serves as the height of extravagance and sophistication. Set on a cliff overlooking the coast, this 11th-century palace is in a central location for all the activities you could ask for when vacationing on the coast.

      Riomaggiore

Riomaggiore is the largest and most easterly city located within the Cinque Terre National Park. The city is placed upon the unspoiled blue waters of the Gulf of Genoa and is known for their Sciacchetra sweet wine which is fermented from Bosco, Fermentino, and Albarola grapes. The colorful homes create a backsplash of elegance against the natural, beautifully rough landscape. While roaming Riomaggiore and the rest of the Cinque Terre Park, consider resting your head at the Restaurant Hotel Porto Roca, the welcoming and down to earth hillside slice of paradise.

The Newest Features in International Luxury Air Travel

newest features in international luxury air travel

Photo: Zocha Group – The Newest Features in International Luxury Air Travel

Newest Features in Luxury Air Travel

For more than a century, passengers have enjoyed air travel in making way to their destination quickly and comfortably. In recent years, airline amenities have reached new heights with business and first class features rising above past expectations to take on a truly luxury air travel experience. With new technologies and modes of relaxation continuously being incorporated into premium travel, first and business class international flights are more lavish than ever and are expected to continue to evolve in coming years. Get to know some of the air travel industry’s most extravagant features that deliver passengers to their destination in style.

        Boeing 777-300ER

Known for its luxury flights, Emirates recently introduced the world’s first enclosed cabin suite featured on an aircraft. The Boeing 777-300ER allows passengers to enjoy 40 feet of their own private space with a sleek look inspired by Mercedes Benz. The aircraft, offering flights out of Dubai, has a series of features to pamper passengers for the ultimate travel experience. They’ll take in entertainment on the biggest widescreen touch TV on any airplane in the world, lounging on “zero gravity” seats perfectly measured to reach the peak of comfort. Mood lighting and temperature control personalize the experience, and virtual windows with a live video feed of the terrain below make sure every passenger has a window seat.

        Etihad A380

While not technically fully-enclosed, a Residence cabin on the Etihad A380 gives Emirates a run for its money by offering the world’s only three-room air travel apartment in the sky. Complete with a living room, bedroom and ensuite bathroom with a shower, luxury is an understatement for guests flying out of Abu Dhabi to NYC, London, Paris or Sydney. A personal butler serves Residence passengers custom, gourmet meals in their spacious living room before they retire to the bedroom, fit with a double bed and additional entertainment system. The bathroom with a full-height shower provides a way to refresh on the long flights, complete with a vanity and luxury robes.

        Air France La Premiere 777-300ER

While none reach the level of extravagance these top-tier cabins provide, other airlines around the world are aiming to upgrade their first and business class services in a variety of ways. The Air France La Premiere 777-300ER provides a notable raised side partition and floor-to-ceiling closed-curtains allowing for an elevated level of privacy. Seats that are made into full beds offer a quality night’s rest with premium bedding. The exceptional experience is topped off with some of the best airline dining in the world. Seven-course meals of caviar, lobster and steak designed by a Michelin-star chef place Air France above all in air dining excellence.

        Zodiac Aerospace

With growing expectations of enhanced comfort and tech in flying experiences, the near future of air travel is projected to include an array of heightened luxuries that continue to take passengers into the next era of first and business class flight. Airbus is partnering with Zodiac Aerospace to develop interchangeable sleeping modules on the lower deck of the Airbus A330. The modular design, expected to be an aircraft catalog option in 2020, will also allow for other uses such as a kids’ zone, medical center, lounge or conference room.

        Panasonic Avionics

Panasonic Avionics is also well on their way to making improvements in premium air travel. Their innovative Nanoe air filtration system, a service planned to launch in 2021, suppresses bacteria, viruses, allergens and other pollutants that improve air quality for first and business class passengers. Panasonic is also developing Active Noise Control technology to reduce aircraft noise and replace it with the passenger’s choice of ambient sound or music.

        Boom Supersonic

An ambitious project by Boom Supersonic aims to deliver passengers from Tokyo to San Francisco in under six hours on a supersonic jet travelling more than double the speed of sound. With testing beginning in 2019, these ultra-fast flights have an expected release date of 2025 with prices comparable to today’s business class seats.

This popular travel day has a variety of ideal destinations with each offering the perfect view of the sparkling night sky. Take your Independence Day trip to new heights with these great places to watch the fireworks this 4th of July summer night.

              New York City

The East River is the source of NYC’s biggest show known as the Macy’s 4th of July Fireworks Spectacular. If you’re lucky enough to have a clear view of the river, you’ll get the full experience with an accompanying music score to put you in the patriotic mood. Manhattan, Queens and Brooklyn have the best view with barges also giving Midtown and South Street Seaport a good sightline. Hotels like 1Hotel, The Bowery, The Freehand or The Nomad make for great vantage points, or make the trek to the river to see the 45-minute event up close.

              Los Angeles

With the sprawling city offering up a range of events from Marina del Rey to Pasadena, you’ll be sure to find an impressive display no matter your neighborhood of choice. The Hollywood Bowl hosts an annual Fourth of July party with The Go-Go’s being this year’s artist to perform during the celebration. Dodger Stadium will be lit up even brighter than usual with an all-American game to round out your evening. One of the biggest LA events is the Rose Bowl’s Americafest which boasts rides, crafts and tailgating outside the stadium in preparation for the eye-catching show.

Their numerous shows of the night take place in Old Town, Ocean Beach, SeaWorld, and their most popular, the Annual Big Bay Boom July 4th Fireworks Show. The largest in the county, this fireworks display lights up the sky from multiple locations along the North Bay. Having four barges placed along the water means you’ll have no problem finding the perfect view with a stay at hotels like Omni, Hotel del Coronado, or Pendry San Diego.

                  The Original Cannabis Cafe

After California passed the legalization of recreational marijuana use, Los Angeles has been abuzz with speculation of how the popular plant will be integrated into its many hospitality spaces. With only a handful of properties approved for a cannabis license, hospitality concepts are being created to embrace newfound opportunities for guests to experience some of the most innovative concepts in the world. With Original Cannabis Cafe now open, a precedent will soon be set for how similar hospitality concepts will operate in a new era of cannabis consumption.

                  The Country’s First Cannabis Cafe

Officially open since October 1st, West Hollywood’s new Cannabis Cafe has been awarded the title of being the country’s first cannabis cafe–a concept brand new to the hospitality scene in response to California’s passage of recreational cannabis use in 2018. The highly-coveted license required to run the business received over 300 applicants, but was only approved for eight new venues in West Hollywood.

Dishes Made to Complement the Heightened Senses

Unlike weed dispensaries, Cannabis Cafe is approved for on-site consumption of cannabis in the form of flowers, vapes, pre-made edibles, concentrates and extracts. Alcohol consumption and CBD food or drink aren’t available due to state law, but that won’t stop guests from taking a bite from their delicious food menu created by Chef Andrea Drummer. Dishes made to complement the “heightened senses” of cannabis include a fried chicken sandwich, candied pork belly, brussels sprouts and a dessert plate, with items expected to be rotated seasonally. Non-alcoholic mocktails made with fresh ingredients are also available as a refreshing touch.

                  The Setting

The trendy space consists of a dining cafe, lounge, and smoking patio along with a retail shop. It isn’t just limited to those wishing to light up, as the property also includes a non-smoking patio and the cafe is open to the public. Along with plenty of plants throughout to keep the space fresh, a custom air-filtration system helps keep smoke away from nearby residents, keeping the party contained to the Cannabis Cafe property.

                  Lowell Farms

The impressive venue is filled with natural foliage and a rustic, vintage design modeled after the Lowell Farms product brand. The Santa Barbara County-based company joined with LA’s renowned Houston Hospitality along with Una Mas bartending team to create the perfect combination of experiences. Guests are greeted by “Flower Hosts” who provide tableside service to help them choose from the variety of strains. A “Dab Bar” is available for more experienced smokers who already know their favorites. Reservations are good for an hour and a half with cannabis sales ending at 10pm, but guests are able to bring their own products in for consumption until 2am.

                  Come One, Come All

The venue’s initial reservations were fully booked, but now have openings throughout the day for guests to come and enjoy the space. The property is expected to draw in not only locals, but patrons from neighboring states where open marijuana consumption is not yet legal. Whether it be local residents or those travelling to Los Angeles from around the world, Cannabis Cafe makes history and kickstarts a new era of hospitality with the integration of cannabis.

A New Age in Advertising with Experiential Marketing

                    Experiential Marketing

In an era where ads are considered more of a nuisance than informative, companies are exploring more creative avenues to reach their consumers in effective ways. One approach that has gained traction in recent years is experiential marketing—events where consumers have hands-on and in-person experiences with brands. These experiential marketing events allow direct engagement that inspires an emotional connection to users.

It has become a recognized trend that millennials tend to spend more of their income on experiences in comparison to the product-oriented generations that came before them. With their eyes constantly seeking new activities, they invest their free time in taking trips, going to events, and socializing in public places. This modern pool of highly active individuals sets up a foundation for experiential marketing to be extremely effective for brands. The continuously growing social media landscape has also become a large aspect of why experiential marketing is so useful. The unique and artistic spaces created for events are often prime photo-ops for attendees. Interactive activities can inspire hundreds of pictures which users voluntarily post to their social media channels. Experiential marketing events often will include a custom hashtag promoted in marketing materials and signage that allow attendees’ photos to be grouped online to make them easily viewed by others.

Experiential marketing campaigns can also provide a way for brands to learn more about their consumers. Analyzing consumer data and KPIs are a significant part of marketing and with experiential events, consumers are often willing to provide relevant information about themselves in exchange for the opportunity to experience a fun event. These events act as a modern re-imagination of the classic focus group style of market research that proves to be more effective as it generates both in-person and online engagement while making a positive impact on the participant.

Ultimately the most beneficial part of experiential marketing is the personal connection consumers are able to make with a company and more specifically, their brand. These events help illustrate the brand’s narrative and integrate consumers into the story. Their in-person memories of experiencing the event are far more impactful than a billboard they pass on the street or an ad before an online video. These opportunities for direct engagement create a relationship where after attending an experiential event, the consumer is more likely to develop brand loyalty than through traditional means of advertising. This two-way relationship where both brand and consumer are learning about each other is an invaluable method that has plenty of space to flourish within the marketing industry.
