The Monaco Grand Prix’s Luxurious Tradition of Celebration

An extravagant French tradition, the Monaco Grand Prix highlights the best of the best Formula One drivers as they show off their talents in the French Riviera. Since its start in 1929, the race annually draws in thousands of visitors to Monaco to be a part of the festivities and culture that surrounds the prestigious event. From celebrities to socialites, guests gather to celebrate the start of summer and experience the excitement of motorsports by witnessing the 78 laps around the impressive Circuit de Monaco racetrack.

Photo: Monaco Grand Prix

Winning the Monaco Grand Prix is considered one of the highest honors in motor races alongside the Indy 500 and 24 Hours Le Mans. With the three forming the Triple Crown of Motorsport, the race continues to be one of the most popular among Formula One enthusiasts. Normally a modest city of 30,000 citizens, Monaco’s population inflates to an average of 100,000 people as spectators travel from all over the world to cheer on their favorite drivers. The over 160-mile race is driven by dozens of talented Formula One drivers who head to Monaco each May to see if they have what it takes to win the hefty prize fund.

Photo: Mercedes

With high society being an integral part of the race’s audience, the rich and famous are drawn to the event every year to wine, dine and throw parties in celebration of the world-renowned event. From movie stars to politicians, the well-known attendees can be spotted living it up alongside the rest of the lively spectators. Reminiscent of a Hollywood red carpet event, guests like Hugh Grant, Ron Howard, Bella Hadid, and Kris Jenner can be seen mixing and mingling throughout the weekend. Even Royalty like England’s Prince Harry and Monaco’s own Prince Albert have graced the grounds with their presence. Whether they’re avid racing fans or just coming to socialize and celebrate, the VIP guests help make the event ticket all the more attractive.

Photo: TAG Heuer Monaco Grand Prix Event

Aside from the race itself, there are plenty of ways to spend time enjoying the French Riviera during a Grand Prix stay in Monaco. The infamous yacht parties thrown throughout the weekend are invite-only and often feature live music from A-list DJs, free-flowing Champagne, and plenty of caviar for your palate. Olympian Nicholas Frankl hosts an opulent annual yacht event where even the most well-known socialites and celebrities aren’t always able to snag an invite. With celebrities Kim Kardashian and Kanye West having been turned down in the past, Frankl’s exclusive 120-max guest list is limited to a hand-picked crowd of notable attendees. Last year’s Billionaire Club Champagne party held on the rooftop of the Fairmont Hotel in Monte Carlo was also a sought after invite. With stunning views of the Mediterranean acting as a backdrop to the poolside event, guests got to take in the seascape while popping bottles ‘til dawn.

Photo: French Riviera

Aside from the parties, event attendees can also take advantage of Monaco’s nightlife venues that get filled to the brim with partygoers during the popular travel weekend. Amber Lounge at the Le Meridien Plaza Beach Hotel is known to be a hot spot during the Grand Prix. A prime after-party location, the venue sees non-stop celebration by key players in fashion, entertainment and even European royals. La Rascasse has enough of a reputation that a part of the Grand Prix track has been named after the iconic bar. You’ll get a view of the race by day and an enviable indoor-outdoor place to party by night. If you’re looking for a day party getaway, The Fairmont Monte Carlo plays host to Nikki Beach–a pop-up pool club that overlooks a challenging bend in the race track. Cabanas and sunbeds fill the space while DJs keep the party going well into the night.

The Monaco Grand Prix’s rich history and continuous draw of thousands of racing fans has made it one of the most important Formula One races in the world. The week’s worth of festivities leading up to the race will have attendees enjoying their travels and indulging in luxurious dining, transportation, and revelry.

Any Angeleno looking to experience a fun evening on the town knows that the city’s ever-changing nightlife landscape is what helps keep Los Angeles exciting. But what happens when one destination continuously evolves all on its own? Warwick’s unique practice of staying fresh by regularly redesigning their space has placed them as a staple in the Hollywood club scene. For partygoers looking to revel amongst lavish décor, stylish crowds and trendy playlists, Warwick has established itself as a Sunset Boulevard go-to in the heart of Hollywood.

Warwick’s creativity in the conceptual theme of the property perseveres with each new re-imagination. From dark and mysterious earth-toned furnishings, to a beachy and playfully-referenced Scarface theme, to vibrant Moroccan ornaments, each new design elicits a refreshing feel to the space that reignites each guest’s inner party animal. No matter the design, clubgoers are always guaranteed to be surrounded by an ambiance that keeps them returning as the experience evolves.

Regular customers are treated like celebrities, and celebrities are treated like regular customers.

In entering the main room, guests can immediately tell they’re in for a night of elegance, as lounge-worthy sofas and coffee tables stocked with drink mixers accentuate the grand nature of the space. Whether it’s a table fit for a small group of friends, or the larger elevated booths that run along the sidelines, any visitor feels welcomed in the spacious yet cozy atmosphere. For those without bottle service, there’s no problem getting a drink at the three-sided bar that lets guests mix with club patrons as bartenders mix their drinks. A specialty cocktail menu to compliment the theme features satisfying concoctions that offer great alternatives to ubiquitous club drinks. Those looking for more intimacy can head to the upstairs bar which overlooks the party from above. The additional bottle service tables, and standing room perfect for a dance break, allow you to witness the bustle of the lower level while still being able to enjoy a quality conversation with friends.

With a dim, lounge environment perfect for getting lost in the night’s escapades, Warwick is a natural draw for VIP clientele. From socialites and actors to DJs and pop stars, Hollywood’s elite often stop by to indulge in the luxury of a vibrant crowd and quality service. Photographers waiting outside the club is a common occurrence, as paparazzi hope to catch a glance of Calvin Harris, Miley Cyrus, Chris Brown or any of the club’s other recognizable faces.

Aside from the more well-known visitors, the bevy of partygoers stopping by every Wednesday, Friday and Saturday bring in plenty of energy to keep the celebration going all night long. The chic, attractive crowd, combined with a regularly refreshed design, creates the perfect vibe for any night owl looking to get their fill of the Hollywood nightlife scene.

Dance in the Desert at The Neon Carnival

Over the years, the annual Neon Carnival has blossomed into becoming one of Coachella’s most highly-coveted party wristbands. The A-list guest list limited to celebrities, influencers, and industry insiders creates an incredible night as guests indulge in carnival games, rides, and unforgettable live performances in the middle of the desert. This highly sought-after invite grants you exclusive access to experience the social event of the year.

Weekend Three Announced

The carnival has typically been held for one night only late on the Saturday night of Coachella weekend one each year, but has recently expanded to include a second day of revelry. Partygoers can now also attend during the unofficial “weekend three,” which coincides with Goldenvoice’s other Indio festival Stagecoach.

The carnival is managed by nightlife impresario Brent Bolthouse—the creative behind Santa Monica and Huntington Beach’s well-admired Bungalow bars, set to open their third location in Long Beach. His impact in the industry spans decades, leading his company Bolthouse Productions to continuously impress with their creativity, detail, and knack for orchestrating a good time.

In the early Neon Carnival days, the party was an even more exclusive indoor event at the Barker Hangar in Thermal, CA. It was a party fully-stocked with Hollywood elites as a private place to escape to after the festival with only a few-hundred guests on the invite list. The outdoor carnival aspect didn’t come into play until 2010, inspired by another of Bolthouse’s famous private parties held at Six Flags Magic Mountain. Each year the Neon Carnival has grown, with the event switching locations in 2018 to HITS Desert Horse Park, a larger space for an increased guest list of 8,000 attendees. The new guest list has expanded even further for 2019 with the addition of a second night.

Past Neon Carnival events are well-known for drawing in a kaleidoscope of A-listers. It may be no surprise that attendees have included regular clubgoers like Drake, Justin Bieber, Rihanna and Paris Hilton, but when Hollywood royalty like Leonardo Dicaprio and Clint Eastwood also show up for the festivities, the carnival’s status is cemented as being the best of the best.

The Neon Carnival is an invite-only event.

The big question hopeful attendees have each year is, “How do you get a wristband?” Bolthouse cites close-knit industry relationships as being the number one source for the guest list. Invites go out to talent agencies, record labels, and the numerous nightlife connections Bolthouse has developed over the years. The curated selection of invitees are given a time and place for advanced check-in where they pick up their wristbands within the weeks prior to the event. The sale of knock-offs online are a given for an event of this prominence, but Bolthouse ensures that the official wristbands can’t be removed for resale. Entry for the priceless event can’t be purchased, where even the extremely limited number of bottle service tables are quickly bought up by invited VIPs.

With its 2019 expansion, the brand has opened up the attendee pool by allowing potential guests to request guestlist access on the Neon Carnival website. Invites will still be given at the discretion of Bolthouse Productions, with influencers and highly-followed Instagram accounts likely to receive priority. According to Bolthouse himself, anyone with a dream of waltzing into the event is best off getting to know him personally through one of his many bar and nightlife ventures.

The 2019 event will be bringing back their resident performer DJ Ruckus along with Kayper and an unannounced guest performer to take the stage. You won’t miss out on any Coachella acts as the Carnival is always held after the closing artist has ended. Neon Carnival has never been directly affiliated with the festival and has always been an event for post-Coachella, which has helped cultivate a friendship rather than competition between the two events.

Whether you’re one of the lucky invited guests, or a spectator hoping to make it to the list one day, excitement continues to mount as all eyes will be on the Neon Carnival this Coachella season. Its tenth installment will be sure to bring new surprises as guests party until the sun comes up at one of the hottest social events of the year.
