The Connaught Bar

The Connaught Bar in Mayfair is an essential stop for anybody interested in history. The Zetter Townhouse Cocktail Bar

Designed by Russell Sage, this cocktail bar’s interior feels more like an eclectic friend’s home rather than a bar and lounge. Plush seating, dim lighting, bookcases filled to the brim with stories and crackling fires are what make the Zetter Townhouse Cocktail Bar the perfect place for a relaxing evening out on the town. The drinks are created from taking inspiration from local distilling and drink-making history, and the Townhouse often hosts parties that are reflective of that history.

Dance in the Desert at The Neon Carnival

Over the years, the annual Neon Carnival has blossomed into becoming one of Coachella’s most highly-coveted party wristbands. The A-list guest list limited to celebrities, influencers, and industry insiders creates an incredible night as guests indulge in carnival games, rides, and unforgettable live performances in the middle of the desert. This highly sought-after invite grants you exclusive access to experience the social event of the year.

Photo: Neon Carnival

Weekend Three Announced

The carnival has typically been held for one night only late on the Saturday night of Coachella weekend one each year, but has recently expanded to include a second day of revelry. Partygoers can now also attend during the unofficial “weekend three,” which coincides with Goldenvoice’s other Indio festival Stagecoach.

Photo: Brent Bolthouse and Alessandra Ambrosio at Neon Carnival – Getty Images

Neon Carnival presented by Levis and Bondi Sands

The carnival is managed by nightlife impresario Brent Bolthouse—the creative behind Santa Monica and Huntington Beach’s well-admired Bungalow bars, set to open their third location in Long Beach. His impact in the industry spans decades, leading his company Bolthouse Productions to continuously impress with their creativity, detail, and knack for orchestrating a good time.

In the early Neon Carnival days, the party was an even more exclusive indoor event at the Barker Hangar in Thermal, CA. It was a party fully-stocked with Hollywood elites as a private place to escape to after the festival with only a few-hundred guests on the invite list. The outdoor carnival aspect didn’t come into play until 2010, inspired by another of Bolthouse’s famous private parties held at Six Flags Magic Mountain. Each year the Neon Carnival has grown, with the event switching locations in 2018 to HITS Desert Horse Park, a larger space for an increased guest list of 8,000 attendees. The new guest list has expanded even further for 2019 with the addition of a second night.

Past Neon Carnival events are well-known for drawing in a kaleidoscope of A-listers. It may be no surprise that attendees have included regular clubgoers like Drake, Justin Bieber, Rihanna and Paris Hilton, but when Hollywood royalty like Leonardo Dicaprio and Clint Eastwood also show up for the festivities, the carnival’s status is cemented as being the best of the best.

Photo: Neon Carnival – Jesse Grant/Getty Images

The Neon Carnival is an invite-only event.

The big question hopeful attendees have each year is, “How do you get a wristband?” Bolthouse cites close-knit industry relationships as being the number one source for the guest list. Invites go out to talent agencies, record labels, and the numerous nightlife connections Bolthouse has developed over the years. The curated selection of invitees are given a time and place for advanced check-in where they pick up their wristbands within the weeks prior to the event. The sale of knock-offs online are a given for an event of this prominence, but Bolthouse ensures that the official wristbands can’t be removed for resale. Entry for the priceless event can’t be purchased, where even the extremely limited number of bottle service tables are quickly bought up by invited VIPs.

Photo: Neon Carnival – Donovan Justin Gonzalez

With its 2019 expansion, the brand has opened up the attendee pool by allowing potential guests to request guestlist access on the Neon Carnival website. Invites will still be given at the discretion of Bolthouse Productions, with influencers and highly-followed Instagram accounts likely to receive priority. According to Bolthouse himself, anyone with a dream of waltzing into the event is best off getting to know him personally through one of his many bar and nightlife ventures.

The 2019 event will be bringing back their resident performer DJ Ruckus along with Kayper and an unannounced guest performer to take the stage. You won’t miss out on any Coachella acts as the Carnival is always held after the closing artist has ended. Neon Carnival has never been directly affiliated with the festival and has always been an event for post-Coachella, which has helped cultivate a friendship rather than competition between the two events.

Photo: Donovan Justin Gonzalez

Whether you’re one of the lucky invited guests, or a spectator hoping to make it to the list one day, excitement continues to mount as all eyes will be on the Neon Carnival this Coachella season. Its tenth installment will be sure to bring new surprises as guests party until the sun comes up at one of the hottest social events of the year.

LA’s ‘The Bungalow’ Expands to Two New Southern California Locations

Any visitor to Santa Monica is bound to hear buzz about The Bungalow as it holds its place as one of the busiest bars on the Westside. After expanding to Huntington Beach, the Bungalow brand continues to travel down the coast with the announcement of two new Long Beach and La Jolla locations. The beachy brand will soon be making its mark in these California cities bringing crowds of guests to enjoy their signature eclectic, outdoor space.

The Bungalow’s flagship Santa Monica location opened in 2012 at The Fairmont Miramar Hotel and soon became a staple in the West LA bar scene. The unmatched Baja-inspired atmosphere of mixing and mingling with a view of the ocean waves has led the Bungalow brand to continue its successes, solidifying itself as a go-to for bar hoppers. Whether guests are stopping by to enjoy the outdoor patio, play a game of pool or ping pong, or warm up by the fire pit, the lounge space offers up a good time for everyone with a relaxed, welcoming environment.

Much of The Bungalow’s success is due to the creativity of nightlife guru Brent Bolthouse, who created the concept and heads The Bungalow Hospitality Group. Bolthouse’s legacy in the industry, along with bringing on Venice-based design partners Studio Collective, made the perfect combination of talent to push forth the uniquely Californian brand.

Bolthouse’s Bungalow Hospitality Group soon expanded the concept to the similarly beach-driven city Huntington Beach in 2016, creating an Orange County outpost of the popular hot spot. The Bungalow Huntington Beach took on an aesthetic familiar to the original with textured accents and vintage designs that complement the city’s own history of surf culture. The success of the brand has lead to the upcoming launch of two new Southern California properties under the Bungalow name—one in Long Beach and another in San Diego’s La Jolla.

The Huntington Beach location boasts a food menu from local partner Bear Flag Fish Co., but the two new locales will get an upgraded dining menu from world-renowned chef and restaurateur Michael Mina. The Michelin-starred chef founded MINA Group, which owns more than 40 restaurants across the country. The new Bungalow menus will include small bites and large shareable plates along with specialty cocktails.

Guests will have a view of the harbor at the Long Beach location situated in the upcoming 2nd & PCH complex in the Belmont Shores neighborhood. The Bungalow Long Beach will have one of the biggest spaces in the complex with a layout amounting to 8,000 square feet. After it breaks ground in the spring, the new seaside lounge has an anticipated opening date of fall 2019.

Expecting to break ground in summer of 2019, The Bungalow La Jolla will be connected to the Westfield UTC with its own dedicated building featuring views of Downtown. The plans include an expansive 10,000 square foot layout with half of that belonging to the outdoor space alone. Guests can look forward to visiting this San Diego County destination by spring of 2020.
